WHAT TO SEE: THE TOWER OF BARBARESCO

Located in the city center, the Barbaresco tower was built in the 11th century and stands at a height of about 36 meters, from which you can enjoy a splendid landscape, thanks to a breathtaking view.

Access to the top of the tower is through a stepladder, on the side of the Tanaro river, since the interior is covered with earth up to half of the structure.
With a square base, the tower was built with brickwork and stands on a sandstone base. On the top you can still find the remains of the battlements that made up the typical crown of sighting towers, making it in fact part of a system of fortifications.

At the foot of the Barbaresco Tower, it develops the small village of the medieval town. Contended in history by several principalities, the village of Barbaresco, has a very ancient origin, but as we know it today it is surely to be traced back to the Middle Ages.
Among the streets of the small village everything seems to have stopped at that historical period, where small squares, the church and the corners tell of stories and shops lost in time and recall scenes and atmospheres of a distant period characterized by important commercial trades, thanks to agricultural products and viticulture that have always characterized this area.
